THE GREATNESS OF A NATION AND ITS MORAL PROGRESS CAN BE JUDGED BY THE WAY ITS ANIMALS ARE TREATED. -MAHATMA GANDHI

Nosara Animal Care is a non-profit organization who, through donations, provides
health care for homeless animals and for animals living with low income families who
cannot afford the high costs of veterinary medicine. We believe that every animal equally
deserves quality care from skilled and gentle veterinarians for routine check ups,
spay/neuters, vaccinations, deworming, and any other medical attention they may need.
In order to provide the best care for these animals we first need to eliminate
the cycle of continual breeding and unwanted litters. There just aren't enough
good homes for all of them, leaving many homeless and hungry in the streets. Once they
have been spayed or neutered we can direct closer attention to each one without being
overwhelmed with the problems of over population.
Parasites and disease can cause great discomfort, be transmitted to humans or
other animals, and significantly interfere with the relationship between people
and their pets. Disease, or the presence of parasites on an animal can cause family and
community members to distance themselves physically and emotionally from the animal.
Educating ourselves to recognise early symptoms of disease and parasitic infestations
can play a very important role in controlling the problem, putting an end to needless
suffering, and closing the gap between humans and animals.
We offer educational classes to the local schools to teach the children about
animal's basic needs, health care, nutrition, respect, and the importance of spaying and
neutering. Seminars for the community are also available to learn more about both large
and small animals.
Our goal is to raise enough donations to keep expanding our program to educate
and serve more of the surrounding towns of Nosara.
We are presently working towards opening a local animal hospital so that low
cost animal care is available at all times from knowledgeable vets in fully equipped
facilities.
